Why Me
My name is Azaan Sahadulla and I am currently in the 9th grade within the British school system in Bahrain. I was born in Boston, MA and spent my early childhood in Lexington, MA. At the age of 5, my family moved to Bahrain, and I was enrolled in the British School of Bahrain, where I spent my elementary school years. Once I reached middle school, I made the decision to switch to St. Christopher’s School, a highly regarded institution recognized by Spears magazine as one of the top 100 private schools in the world.
Currently, I am in the process of completing my General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) qualifications, which are set by the Department of Education in England and are highly valued in core subjects such as English, Math, and Science, as well as other subjects of my choosing, including Economics, Design and Tecnology and Business Studies. These qualifications are achieved through exams taken in the first two years of high school and provide a strong foundation for higher level academic pursuits.

I come from parents with contrasting backgrounds. My mother grew up in Zambia during the HIV epidemic and went on to earn a BSc in Pharmacology at Kings College London, an MD from Charles University in the Czech Republic , a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University, and recently an MBA from Oxford University. My father, on the other hand, grew up in Saudi Arabia and attended Kodaikanal International School in India. He holds a degree in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and a medical degree from Tufts University in Boston and a residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Michigan. My parents’ global achievements have inspired me in many ways to contribute to the communities we live in. My particular interests are supporting child headed households in Zambia and providing access to clean water, a sustainable project that my brothers and I have worked on with my mother in her home town.
I am a very goal-oriented student with a demonstrated strong academic record, and advanced abilities in the STEM subjects. I am the recipient of numerous math challenge awards and was awarded a Certificate of Distinction from the University of Oxford for the UK Bebras Challenge. My average for the STEM subjects is an A (equivalent to GCSE Grade 8). I have a passion for both Science and Math as they challenge me to think analytically and apply problem-solving skills both in school and in my personal life.
Aside from my academic achievements, I am also deeply passionate about soccer, tennis, singing and piano. I play in the Junior Premier League in soccer in Bahrain and have won numerous national tournaments. I am a versatile soccer player playing in a British Soccer Academy here that is affiliated with Southampton Football Club in the UK. I can comfortably play offense as a striker and defense as a wing back. I am constantly learning about my teammates to improve my performance. My close-knit group of peers and I work together to make a high-performing team, and I regularly collaborate with my coaches to develop our team’s strategy and drive positive outcomes. I have played in numerous Cup tournaments in and around the Middle East and most recently represented my club in the Costa Blanca Cup in Valencia, Spain. I also love to play tennis and have been playing since I was 5 years old.

In my spare time I am a dedicated pianist and have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old. I have reached Grade 5 in the Cambridge Trinity Exam and have passed all stages with Distinction. I am also a professionally trained singer and take part in many concerts and recitals. With my musical talents, I formed a band with my brothers called The Boston Boys, and we have achieved recognition through our musical performances. Our band placed second in the Gulf Idol competition held in November 2022, and I also received second place in the solo piano category.
In the past 2 years I have taken a very keen interest in the Stock Market! As my birthday gift, my dad set up a trading account for me and I use any money from gifts to trade. I invested in a varied portfolio of companies that have interested me in the services they provide or the products they make. Nvidia and Apple are my current winners at the moment. My parents happily encourage me to trade so long as I am saving the money towards my college fund and not spending it on gaming.
I am confident that my diverse background and unique combination of academic achievement, athletic skills, artistic talent, and life experiences will add valuable global perspectives to the 2028 cohort. I am eager to meet the eligibility requirements and accountabilities outlined on your website and contribute to the community. My discipline in managing time and staying focused has allowed me to maintain a balanced approach to academics, athletics, and the arts, which aligns with the ideals of a successful student. I give my all to every task, whether it’s an assignment from my English teacher or a goal-scoring challenge from my soccer coach. I am committed to giving 110% effort no matter the subject.
